Focus and Scope

The Sorume Health Sciences Journal is an international, peer-reviewed, and open access online journal that aims to promote knowledge for clinical practice, education, management or policy in nursing, midwifery, healthcare and public health, through publishing the high quality evidence-based basic and clinical researches. 

The majority of papers, in Sorume Health Sciences Journal, are written by nurses, midwives, and public health professionals but there are no limitations on authorship. Contributions are welcomed from other health professions on issues that fit with the journal’s aims and scope. The Sorume Health Sciences Journal publishes original research (quantitative, qualitative and mixed method), reviews, and short communication on all aspects of nursing, midwifery, and public health. Specific topics in the Journal include:


Nursing


  • Advances in Education, Practice and Research; Quality of Patient Care in all settings, Medical-Surgical Nursing, palliative care nursing, spiritual care, Critical Care Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Geriatric Nursing, and Pediatrics Nursing; Patient Safety in all settings; Patient Education and Counseling across the Life Span; Community and Mental Health Nursing; Cross-Cultural Health Issues; Legal and Ethical issues in Care and Research; Management, Policy & Leadership influencing healthcare; Nursing Informatics; Complementary and alternative therapies in Nursing

Peer Review Process

All articles will undergo double-blind peer review where the article will be sent anonymously to two people who are specialist in the subject area of the article. 
Reviewers are asked to return their constructive comments within two to three weeks. Feedback is returned to authors and a decision made about how to proceed in the following categories: accept, accept with minor revisions, 
accept with major revisions, revise and resubmit, reject. Where an article receives two conflicting reviews, the editor will make the final decision. 

 

Publication Frequency

The Sorume Health Sciences Journal is published two times per year (June and December). Accepted papers are published online, as soon as the corrected proofs are available, prior to print publication. Disclaimer: Articles appearing in the published ahead-of-print section are posted at the "Post Author Correction" stage of production. A Post Author Correction article is a composed proof of a peer-reviewed article that has been substantively edited and copyedited, and it contains the author's and editorial office's proofreading corrections. However, these articles will be reviewed one additional time before print publication. Any final changes in the manuscript will be made at the time of print publication and will be reflected in the final electronic version of the issue. The editors and authors and their respective employees are not responsible or liable for the use of any potentially inaccurate or misleading data, opinion, or information that may be contained within the articles found in the published ahead-of-print section of the Sorume Health Sciences Journal Web site.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
