Author Guidelines


The Indonesian Pharmacists Journal (IPJ) is a peer-review and open access journal published by the USN Scientific Journal Publisher. The journal is created as a dedication to disseminate new and original findings in all branches of pharmacy, including pharmacists career (see Focus and Scope). The journal publishes articles (research article, review article, and short communication) biannually in April and October every year. The review process of this journal is a double-blind which allow fair judgment and to avoid any bias, especially regarding financial or conflict of interest between the reviewer work and author(s).


The manuscript submitted to the Indonesian Pharmacists Journal is confidential information. Hence, editors would make sure this confidence is respected by the reviewers and publishing staff.

Type of articles and requirements

Research article

Research articles reported new findings and approach including method developments are highly welcome. The manuscript of the research article should be 3500 to 8000 words in length.

Review article

Review papers are generally intended to consider the strengths and weakness of published research. A review should present a critical analysis to highlight the achievements and specific scientific gaps in our knowledge. Hence, the priority of further research could be suggested and described. The Indonesian Pharmacists Journal is highly welcome to the review articles with such approaches. The manuscript of the review article should not exceed 17.000 words in length.

Short communication

Short communication reports a brief observation of study, intended to emerge a new idea or controversial topics. The manuscript of short communication should be 1500 to 2500 words in length.

Article structure

The section should be numbered 1., 2., 3., etc. Subsections then numbered 1.1., 1.2., etc (then 1.1.1., 1.1.2., etc).

1. Introduction

This section introduces an adequate background, including the significance of the study. Objectives should be clearly stated. The introduction should not include many literature describing and/or comparing previous studies. Avoid conclusion-like statements.

2. Materials and methods

2.1. Materials

This section provides materials used in the study, including samples and chemicals. Collection of a sample should be clearly stated if a plant used then voucher specimen and identification must be provided. In the case of a clinical study, subjects used should clearly be indicated, and the approval number and guidelines must be provided in the Ethical approval section (see Footnotes).

2.2. Methods

This section provides a systematic and detailed method used. When a method reported is based on the previous study, citation/reference should be indicated, and modification should be described.

3. Results

This section should clear and concise.

4. Discussion

This section should elaborate on the significance of the results. Avoid repeating results, including many values and data that already stated in the Results section. Authors can combine Results and Discussion (if preferred). We encourage authors to highlight their findings and compare with previous studies but should avoid extensive citations of published papers.

5. Conclusions

This section presents conclusions of the work derived from results and discussion. A good conclusion should resemble the significant findings and propose future prospects related to the field of the work.


This section should address those individuals who provided help during the research (providing language help, writing assistance, proofreading the article, etc.).


Author’s contribution

Please include in your manuscript a breakdown of the authors’ contribution to a footnote. The format should be similar to the following: A.B. performed experimental works, analyzed data, and wrote the manuscript; C.D. contributed to the research design and supervised the study; E.F and G.H. edited and revised the manuscript; I.J. provided technical assistance during the experimental works. All authors have read the final draft and approved the submission of the manuscript to the journal.

Conflicts of interest

The corresponding author must declare the conflict of interest on behalf of all authors written in the manuscript. The contributions of all authors must be clearly stated (see Author’s contribution). The submission of the manuscript must be approved and signed by all authors. If there is no conflict of interest among author(s), please state ‘All authors declared no conflict of interest’.

Ethical approval

Studies involved animal or human require approval from a local organizational ethics committee. The procedures should indicate with the ethical standards of the responsible committee and with the Helsinki Declaration of 1975 (revised in 2000) when involved human subjects. Authors should be asked to indicate whether the institutional and national guide for the care and use of laboratory animals was followed when involved animal subjects.

Tables and figures

All tables and figures including graphs can be prepared separately from the manuscript in a Microsoft Word document (doc.). Tables and figures should be provided with captions and legends. They also must be cited accordingly in the text (manuscript), for example as Table 1 and Fig. 1. Graphs/charts prepared in solid and/or pattern black and white, avoid gray lines and values. Both table and figure should be prepared in a simple format. Their fonts should in Times New Roman or Arial.

Any figures must be provided in high-resolution quality of images with a minimum of 300 dpi. Their file type must be in TIFF or PDF. Author(s) should avoid JPEG, GIFF, and any low resolutions quality of images. In the case of the chemical structure of compounds, the author(s) should apply drawing style according to ACS or RSC.
